Global Partners Named Official Fuel Sponsor of The Greater Boston Food Bank

Boston, MA (January 14, 2025) – The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), the largest hunger-relief organization in New England, announced today that Global Partners (Global), a leading independent liquid energy supplier and retail operator, has been named the Official Fuel Sponsor of GBFB for 2025. Global has pledged to cover the annual fuel costs for GBFB’s fleet of eight delivery trucks that travel throughout Eastern Massachusetts delivering healthy food to the food bank’s 600 food distribution partners.

With one in three Massachusetts residents facing food insecurity in the past year, GBFB’s delivery trucks are on the road six days a week ensuring that 600,000 people per month in all 190 cities and towns of Eastern Massachusetts have access to the nutritious food they need to live healthy, productive lives.

In addition to their generous financial commitment, Global also donated more than 1,500 gallons of renewable diesel to help fuel GBFB’s fleet for close to a month during the 2024 holiday season. Renewable diesel is made from fats, oils, and waste greases from the food and restaurant industries and delivers the same performance as petroleum diesel but with lower emissions.

“We are committed to keeping communities growing, moving, and thriving, and this donation of renewable diesel to the Greater Boston Food Bank is a reflection of that commitment,” said Eric Slifka, President and Chief Executive Officer at Global Partners LP. “We are not only helping to offset fuel costs for the food bank but also lowering the emissions of the vehicles that transport vital food supplies to those in need across the region. Being a good neighbor and giving back to the communities where we live and work is in our DNA, and this donation is just one example of how we are working to contribute to the well-being of our communities.”

“Global Partners’ incredible donation will help us fuel our delivery trucks for the year and in turn make it possible for us to purchase more produce, protein, and non-perishable items to serve our communities that have the greatest need,” said Catherine D’Amato, GBFB President and CEO. “It’s only with great support from the community and generous corporate donations like this one that we are able to empower more individuals and families to put food on their tables every day.”
