Massachusetts nonprofits share nutritious, affordable recipes amidst rising food costs
Boston, MA (April 10, 2023) –As grocery prices continue to climb, The Greater Boston Food Bank has partnered with nonprofit publisher ChopChop Family to share simple, nutrient-rich and affordable recipes on the Food Bank’s recipe-sharing website, Click ‘N Cook.
Curated by GBFB’s two full-time registered dietitians, Click ‘N Cook helps families piece together healthy recipes with items already in their kitchen to cut down on cost and reduce waste. As a cookbook and magazine publisher, ChopChop Family seeks to inspire and educate families to cook and eat real food together. In fact, most recipes are simple enough that a child (under adult supervision) could whip up a quick, healthy meal for everyone to enjoy.
“We’re excited to reach out to young families by adding these great produce-forward recipes that the whole family can participate in preparing,” said Rachel Burgun, Assistant Director of Nutrition Programs at GBFB. “Access to fresh produce is critical to nutrition and health. Learning to cook with fresh fruits and vegetables is an important part of eating a well-balanced diet.”
“With so many barriers to nutritious food, it’s as important as ever to equip families with the tools they need to nourish themselves and craft fun, easy meals at home,” said Sally Sampson, founder of ChopChop Family. “A well-balanced diet is key to a healthy mind and nourished body, and we’re happy to be sharing hearty and accessible meals alongside The Greater Boston Food Bank with those who need them most.”
