We’re thrilled to share that five incredible Hunger Heroes will be hitting the pavement in April and running the Boston Marathon for GBFB. In addition to this incredible feat, our five runners will raise funds to provide healthy food for our neighbors in need across Eastern Massachusetts. Read more about our runners and how you can support their efforts to make a difference in our community.
Max’s running story: “I was a soccer player growing up, but when COVID first hit, much of that got put on hold, so I turned to running and have been an avid runner ever since,” Max says. “Over the past few years, I’ve completed many half marathons but only recently ran my first two marathons (both in the last year). It’s been a great way to explore a new city as I moved to Boston late last year!

A fun fact about Casey: Max recently moved to Boston from San Francisco.
Why GBFB: “I moved to Boston from San Francisco in August, with a goal of finding ways to more positively impact the people in my community,” says Max. “I discovered GBFB in early September and have been volunteering weekly on weekends ever since. Not only is it personally rewarding to meaningfully contribute to my community, but as a recent transplant I’ve also come to appreciate working alongside the same faces each week and building a community outside of work.”
