Published on October 2, 2024

Women is interview inside a food pantry by a man. There are shelves of food in the background. While healing from a heart attack and triple bypass surgery, Lisa Riveiro knew she needed something to lift her spirits.

She drove by the PACE food pantry in New Bedford—a GBFB Agency Partner—and stopped in. Two years later, she’s been volunteering there ever since.

“Finding this place just turned my whole life around,” Lisa says. “I am so grateful to still be alive and so grateful that I can be here to help others.”

Lisa has formed friendships with many of PACE’s clients, who seek her out to say hello and catch up. “My goal – other than making sure that these families have the food that they need – is that they leave here with a smile on their face,” Lisa says.
