“Let’s Turn That Narrative Around”: Volunteer & Advocate Shares Lived Experience and Uplifts Others

Donnette McManus is empowering others to take action against hunger.  

Every week, she and her children volunteer to fill bags of food for their neighbors at the Catholic Charities food pantry in Brockton, a GBFB Agency Partner. 

“I want them to know, don’t take anything for granted,” Donnette says. 

When Donnette’s sister passed away after giving birth to her third daughter in 2019, Donnette went from raising one son to suddenly parenting four children. During that difficult time, she found support and resources at the same Catholic Charities pantry where she volunteers today.  

As a volunteer and hunger-relief advocate, she’s lifting others up and working tirelessly to end hunger here.
