For 31 years, The Greater Boston Food Bank and the Red Sox have joined forces for the annual GBFB Strike Out Hunger at Fenway Park event to raise awareness of food insecurity. Recently, on July 25 and 26, the Red Sox, GBFB team members and volunteers gathered at Fenway Park to raise awareness and provide community support.
Right now, a staggering 1 in 3 residents of Massachusetts face food insecurity, highlighting the urgent need for access to nutritious meals. GBFB’s continued partnership with the Red Sox underscores the importance of teamwork from invaluable local organizations to come together to collaboratively support efforts to end hunger.
The Strike Out Hunger event continues to be a powerful community event and this year raised enough money to provide over 15,000 meals for our neighbors in need across eastern Massachusetts.
Whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness, we all play a role in building a nourished and resilient Massachusetts. We need your help to end hunger and create a brighter future for our neighbors in need. Learn more about how you can donate to eliminate hunger here.
During the event, GBFB’s President and CEO, Catherine D’Amato, spoke with NESN reporter Jahmai Webster about the critical need for collective action to ensure those in need can access meals from GBFB as a central hub. Watch the video below!
