GBFB Achieves Outstanding AIB Score

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is proud to say that our organization has achieved another superior AIB International Audit score of 930/1000 this year… our highest score to date!

The American Institute of Baking (AIB) International is an organization committed to protecting the safety of the food supply chain. They help organizations involved in food distribution apply the highest standards of integrity by evaluating how well operational methods and personnel practices are performing, identifying systemic problems, and providing advice for how to improve., while partnering with them to continuously improve food safety best practices.

As a Feeding America member food bank , GBFB is required to undergo annual Food Safety Audits to ensure that industry best-practices and legal requirements are being followed correctly. Not only does this significantly reduce food safety risks for the thousands of clients we serve on a daily basis, but it also raises the bar for food safety practices in general.

People safety, building safety, and food safety are all key areas of focus for this audit and we are pleased to report that GBFB passed with flying colors.
