Wegmans Provides Vital Support

Our strongest supporters are those that can donate time, money and food, and Wegmans is at the top of their class in each of those categories.

In the past year, Wegmans’ five locations in Eastern Massachusetts have donated over 400,000 pounds of food to The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and our partner agencies.

“GBFB’s mission aligns with Wegmans mission of helping people live healthier, better lives through food,” said Todd Drickel, store manager at the Wegmans in Chestnut Hill. “One of our core values is making a difference in the communities we serve. What better way to do that than through hunger-relief?”

Just this year, Wegmans has donated $235,000 to GBFB, including a $95,000 donation at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in March. Since 2017 over 100 Wegmans employees have volunteered at GBFB to help us sort and package food for delivery.

“At Wegmans we believe that good people, working toward a common goal, can accomplish anything they set out to do. I believe our partnership with the GBFB is a prime example of the great things people can do when they come together,” said Towma Rastad, business marketing group account representative for Wegmans.

“Wegmans has been a partner of ours since 2014, and we are continually grateful for their support, especially in this time of unprecedented need,” said Catherine D’Amato, president and CEO of GBFB.

Wegmans is a GBFB Partner for Impact, one of the 150 businesses and organizations that provide more than just financial support to GBFB. Through volunteerism, event sponsorship, in-kind donations and more, these organizations play a key role in helping GBFB achieve its mission.
