On Thursday, November 8, GBFB welcomed over 100 friends at the Yawkey Distribution Center for the 7th annual Chain of Giving. Considered the kick-off to the holiday season, the Chain of Giving brings the GBFB community together to unload the first of many truckloads of turkeys, passing them in down a human chain and into the freezer. Between now and Thanksgiving, 40,000 turkeys will pass through GBFB, destined for the tables of families in need. The Chain of Giving was well attended by a number of valued GBFB partners including some of this year’s Turkey Donors, Agar, BJ’s Wholesale Club, GBFB Kitchen Cabinet, Shaw’s, and Stop & Shop. Along with GBFB’s friends and partners, a number of government officials participated in the event, including Representatives Linda Dorcena Forry, Gloria Fox, Russell Holmes, Aaron Michlewitz, Boston Fire Department Commissioner Rod Fraser, Boston Public Health Commissioner Jim Greene. “This morning, we experienced the power of working together to respond to a critical need in our community,” said Catherine D’Amato, GBFB President and CEO.
